Economic Citizenship Programs (2024 Edition)

Sovereign Confidential

Black paper

In this quarter’s Black Paper we’re shedding light on the Citizenship By Investment (CBI) programs around the world, through which you can quickly obtain a passport in return for an investment.

(For those who are not familiar with our Black Papers, you can think of them as concise guides on a specific topic.)

Having more than one passport is a critical part of any Plan B. Even if you never leave your homeland, a second passport serves as an excellent insurance policy. With a second passport in hand, you can sleep a little sounder, knowing that no single government has complete control over you.

However, navigating the CBI world can be difficult, with little objective information available. It’s not rare for industry leaders, for example, to overcharge their clients who are desperate to obtain a coveted second citizenship (most programs’ participants come from China, the Middle East, and Russia).

But we have nothing to sell you. An impartial point of view and what best serves you are all we care about.

And we tell it straight – CBI programs are not for everyone. If you want to diversify internationally, you may instead follow a more traditional path – such as through the naturalization process after living a few years in a new country.

Or if you have Italian, Irish, Polish, etc. ancestors, you can take advantage of your heritage for a second passport.

However, not everyone can drop everything at home and move to a new country, and not every person is lucky to have the right bloodline.

In this case, Citizenship By Investment could be the only way to obtain that ultimate insurance policy – a second passport... in as little as three months.

The Sovereign Man team has spent countless hours to diligently research and compile all of the world’s CBI programs into this quarter’s Black Paper. We’ve included our analysis and input from local experts, so we hope you enjoy this report. (The world of Citizenship By Investment programs is constantly evolving so we plan to update this document periodically.)
