The Sovereign Man Global Passport Ranking: 2018 Edition

Black paper

Obtaining a second passport should be a cornerstone of your plan B.

On the pages of Sovereign Man: Confidential, we’ve presented you with dozens of country options and we’ve discussed the various ways to obtain a second passport – ancestry, naturalization, investment, and flexible avenues, like having a baby overseas.

One of the most important qualities of any second passport is its utility as a travel document.

Traditionally, law firms specializing in international migration assessed a passport’s travel capabilities by merely counting the passport’s number of visa-free (and visa-on-arrival) countries that it allows.

But this method is flawed – it does not account for the “quality” of the accessible countries. For example, I prefer visa-free access to France over Comoros, or China over Tuvalu.

The traditional method just doesn’t make sense.

So, to come up with our own (much more meaningful) passport ranking, we needed to solve one important problem: how to measure the attractiveness of each country to travelers.

And that’s exactly what we did.

Today, we present you with the result of our efforts: The Sovereign Man Global Passport Ranking. (You can also access the ranking’s interactive webpage. The webpage has much more information than we could include in the written report.)

We believe that The Sovereign Man Passport Ranking is the most accurate way to measure the quality of any passport as a travel document.

Click here to see which second passport will serve you best in your travels or where your home country stands in the ranking (spoiler – the US and Canada didn’t make it to the top 20).
