In this resource we've covered...

Wake up, get dressed, eat breakfast, get in the car, drive to work, work a full day, drive home, savor a few hours – and then do it all over again.

Until recently, this was almost the universal working person’s routine.

But during the pandemic, a lot of things changed. Many people realized they could work from home as efficiently as in the office.

And they realized they could start exploring the world before they retired.

After all, all remote workers and online entrepreneurs need is a laptop, a reliable internet connection, and a comfortable chair. There was little need to stay in overpriced and overcrowded New York, Toronto or London anymore.

So why not work from a place where you can save money and enjoy a high quality of life?

As a result, millions of working people hit the road in the past couple of years.

And many of them are far from the typical “poor backpacker” types who used to traverse the globe. Modern digital nomads are often relatively affluent, and happy to spend their money.

This has led governments worldwide to compete for their business. And today, over 40 countries offer Digital Nomad Visas (DNV) – offering simplified and expedited residencies geared toward remote workers. (We have mapped all of them for you in our Global Explorer.)

Isn’t it nice to have politicians catering to you, instead of leeching off you, for a change?

In Part I of this Black Paper, we look into the DNV offerings in Europe and Asia – two regions that are popular among expats.

Europe, in particular, is at the forefront of the adoption of Digital Nomad Visas, especially in its Southern and Eastern parts. Strained by years of low fertility and brain-drain issues, these regions have gone into higher gear to attract a productive workforce.

And many of Asia’s economies depend heavily on tourism – a sector that was decimated by strict Covid policies. Today, these countries are attempting to make a comeback, offering attractive deals to professionals working remotely.
