If you're a resident of Canada (i.e. a taxpayer), that owns assets abroad, such as property, financial accounts, precious metals etc., or even if you own hold foreign shares through a Canadian broker, you might be required to file Canada's Foreign Income Verification Statement, or Form T1135.
